I've read dozens upon dozens of books, trying so hard to truly enjoy it, but I can't.ĭoes anyone have any recommendations to get me out of this year and a half reading slump? Give me something equally dark and disturbing yet radiant and hopeful, or something that's just downright beautiful and bright. Nothing I've been able to read has brought me close to the amount of sheer brilliance and radiance as an Ember in the ashes. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy. I hate An Ember in the Ashes because it was so good that it killed my love for reading.

It's as if that series sucked every last emotion from my soul. Ever since I finished it, I have not been able to enjoy a book again. A Thief Among the Trees (An Ember in the Ashes Graphic Novel Prequel, 1), An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, 1), A Torch Against the Night. Helene Aquilla, the Blood Shrike, is desperate to protect her sisters life and the lives of everyone in the Empire. The characters were so rich, the world vast, and a story that made me feel so happy, sad, and angry all at once. It's set in an alternative universe with a strict caste system, and the main characters get involved in an effort to overthrow the Empire. Once I read it in June of 2020, I became obsessed with the morbidly dark yet real story. Parents need to know that An Ember in the Ashes is the first book in an exciting fantasy series by former Washington Post journalist Sabaa Tahir.

Sanaa Tahaiers an Ember and the Ashes Quartet had such a strong effect on me when I read it over a year and a half ago. I read for hours a day, finishing books within two.

I used to read and throughlouly enjoy any piece of literature that I touched.
